Community Visioning & Listening Meeting, Glassboro, NJ

On January 30, 2018, we organized a community visioning and listening meeting to exchange ideas around the proposed Arts and Entertainment Districts in downtown Glassboro, NJ. Twenty-five high school students participated in this workshop through a competitive selection process across the state. Cassie Shugart, a former student of the Geography, Planning, and Sustainability department, assisted Dr. Meenar and presented several class projects. Workshop activities also included a lecture, GIS labs, impromptu group projects, and student presentations.

Crowd Mapping Workshop, Glassboro, NJ

On November 1, 2018, we partnered with Creative Glassboro to organize a Crowd Mapping workshop, facilitated by Thomas Young, Creative Director of the National Consortium for Creative Placemaking (NCCP) and hosted by Nexus Properties. About 25 local residents, students, and stakeholders attended the event. Attendees—divided into five groups—participated in self guided walking tours, created an inventory of existing cultural/creative assets, and identified opportunities for future creative initiatives. Data collected from this event will be used in Glassboro Cultural Mapping project, an initiative of Creative Glassboro and led by NCCP Executive Director Leonardo Vazquez.
